Social Action for Women (SAW) was one of the 25 winning organizations of Reb Ribbon Award nominated from 550 organizations in 2008. Dr. Win Myint Than and Ma Yee Mon Htun, two representatives of SAW were invited to participate in the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City, Mexico.
SAW is awarded because it is believed working and helping for the HIV/AIDs patients by providing shelter and facilitating reproductive health to the migrant workers in Mae Sot, Tak Province, Thailand. The representatives from SAW attended the 9 days long 2008 AIDs Conference and accepted the certificate awarded by UNAIDS on 6 th August, 2008.
Social Action for Women (SAW) was founded in June 25, 2000 to assist displaced women from Burma who are in crisis situations after having fled to Mae Sod, Thailand. SAW is based in Mae Sod and was established to support women facing difficulties through the provision of shelter, health education, rights awareness, counseling, and vocational training for unskilled women.
