Friday, 9 January 2009

SAW opened a new shelter named Green Hope centre which is for the trafficked women and children. The opening ceremony was held in Mae Sot. It aims to help develop mentally which was being traumatized by their past experiences. Children who could not be reunited with their parents will be sent to school or will get the vocational trainings depending on their ages. SAW will also arrange children who have parents to be able to reunite with their parents.

SAW's director, Mrs. Aye Aye Mar said " SAW is the social organization helping for the displaced women and children. In our program, we have centre for women and rehabilitation program for women as well as centres of children and rehabilitation program for them. SAW started on June 25th, 2000. At first, we have to support ourselves by opening the shop in the Dr. Cynthia Maung's clinic compound. Later, we expand our programs and now as you see, we are a success organization. This is because of all of your cooperation and encouragement to us. Please keep on supporting to us."

Then, she added "I very much thank to the representatives from the NGOs, CBOs, Mae Sot hospital, Health organization, labour, education and women activists who attended to this opening ceremony. The stone art paintings which show on the other side are the handiwork of SAW's children. The school uniform, scarves, and purses are the handiwork of the women living with HIV. To have the better hope and to live with the innovative idea, we extend opening a new centre."
